Animals can suffer from neck, back, pelvic and musculoskeletal issues and, just like humans, this can cause pain, stiffness, reduced performance, compensatory changes and sometimes altered behaviour. I combine McTimoney Manipulation with Sports Massage and Passive Stretching to address physical and performance related issues in horses.
The McTimoney method is a holistic approach which works to realign the musculoskeletal system and release muscle spasm using gentle, high speed adjustments to restore health, movement and soundness. I combine this technique with Sports Massage to alleviate soreness and muscular compensation and improve circulation; this provides a highly effective treatment to ease tension and optimise the performance of your animal.
I am a fully trained and insured Equine Physical Therapist based near Street in Somerset with qualifications including a Masters Degree in Animal Manipulation and a Postgraduate Diploma in Equine Sports Massage. I work closely with vets and other professionals in the area such as farriers, saddle fitters and dentists and am undertaking referral work for equine practices. Please note the treatment of animals is currently regulated under the Veterinary Act and therefore it is a legal requirement that veterinary permission must be obtained prior to a McTimoney Manipulation and Sports Massage treatment for your horse. This can usually be obtained over the phone; most vets are aware of the benefits of complementary therapy and will readily provide permission providing the treatment is to be carried out by a suitably qualified professional.
